ABOUT
STEMcx, stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Conference and Expo. It refers to our largest event every other year, described in more depth on our program page. But we are much more! We provide free resources to underrepresented minority students, parents and teachers ranging from the workshops and field trips, to contest, virtual interviews, a newsletter and loads of information through or mail list and social media on upcoming camps, internships and STEM opportunities all around Baltimore and surrounding areas. Best of all, all our activities are free.
The STEMcx organization is a part of the Transforming Lives Community Development Corporation, a 501c3 in Baltimore. We continue to raise funds to keep these events free for youth, parents and teachers.
STEMcx is committed to putting non-traditional students into the STEM jobs of the future through exposure, mentoring and giving these students a chance to see someone who looks like them achieving. It is through programs like this one, that we will make an impact. In addition, our partnerships with programs like UMB Cure allow us to maximize the opportunities for many students in Baltimore and the surrounding areas. These quotes tell us, our program is working.

A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS

“It inspired me, because in history they say women aren’t supposed to do anything but be housewives, so to see women—African American women come and be able to teach the whole class about science and bone structures was inspiring because you know that you can do it too as long as you have faith in yourself.” -
(Girl, 11th grade)
“It was inspiring for me because some—not all, but some—Caucasian people look down on you because of the color of your skin, but when you see someone who’s African American running the show and running everything you say ‘Hey! I can do that too!”
(Boy, 7th grade).
